Development of the Energy Saving Module™ by Abbotly Pty Ltd. of Australia began in 1983 with the first commercial models being introduced in 1986. Since that time the ESM™ technology has advanced through four generations of development with the present generational model having first been introduced in 1999. This model has been updated three times to become the ESM™ that is sold today. Smartcool International Inc. purchased the assets of Abbotly Technologies Pty Ltd of Australia in 2006.

                             The Evolution of the Energy Saving Module

Smartcool introduced two new products in 2008. The Intelligent Interface Module (IIM) can be used instead of the regular System Interface Module (SIM) when installing the ESM™ on chillers or complex refrigeration systems that require analog outputs, slide valve control and temperature reset capability.

The other new product introduced by Smartcool is the ECO³™. This product uses Smartcool's copyrighted technology to provide an economical energy efficiency solution for smaller air conditioning and refrigeration applications
